IRON HORSE BIKEFEST
Friday 19th November and most of us met at the Middelburg Ultra City. We rode on the N4 to Milly's One Stop outside Machadodorp, where we discovered to our absolute horror, that Jason Meyer's brand-new front Bridgestone tyre, with only 294kms on, had started to fall apart.

Then we rode along the Schoemanskloof road to Montrose, up to the Woodsman pub & restaurant in Sabie. After a quick bite we hit the road to Hazyview and then up Kowyn’s Pass to Graskop, where we slept for the weekend.
Friday evening we walking into town, to the Canimambo Portuguese restaurant for dinner.

Saturday after breakfast we drew our first cards at the Summit Lodge and then left on our Iron Horse Poker Run.
The Poker Run took us to Hazyview, White River, Nelspruit and Barberton. After Johan du Toit and his wife Yolanda had both been bust by the Provincial fuzz in Barberton (for no SABS stamp on their number plates), we had lunch at the Gold Nugget and then headed back to Graskop, via the very lekker R46 to Nelspruit, White River and the R537 to Sabie and then onto our base at the Summit Lodge in Graskop.
there were 21 of us on 15 motorcycles on our 16th annual Iron Horse Bikefest 2010
Dewald, Len, Basil, Lohan, Lizelle, Eddie, Elsabe, Lizelle, Corne, Flip, Rudy, Jason, Teresa, Johan, Elize and Johan

The best hand went to Flip Opperman, who was dealt a Ten, an Eight, two Aces and a Joker, taking the Poker Run R420.00 kitty.
Saturday night we had a lekker braai for dinner at the Summit Lodge.
On Sunday morning after breakfast we said our farewells, donned our helmets, mounted our Iron Horses and headed for home.
Big, bad Johan du Toit was bust again, this time for speeding (doing 97kph in a 60 zone - in the middle of nowhere between Lydenburg and Dullstroom).
People on our 16th Annual Iron Horse Bikefest 2010 were:
Dieter & Rosa Laumann on their BMW 1200RT, Basil Carolis on his BMW 1200S, Len Latham on his BMW 1200RS, Flip Opperman on his Yamaha FJR1300, Rudy Opperman on his Suzuki GSX-R1000, Lohan & Lizelle Potgieter on their BMW 1200S, Corne & Lizelle Stoltz on their BMW 1200S, Eddie & Elsabe Kymdell on their BMW 1200S, Dewald & Warina Day on their BMW 1200GT, Jason & Teresa Meyer on their BMW 1300GT, Johan du Toit on his Suzuki Boulevard M109R, Yolanda Du Toit on her Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Nightster, Johan van der Schyf on his Suzuki Boulevard M109R, Elize van der Schyf on her Suzuki Boulevard M50 and me on a Honda CBF600.
Thanks to Honda SA for the ride on the CBF600, the little bike really impressed everyone, especially me. I did 1267kms on my Iron Horse weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. The CBF600 was fast enough, very comfortable, economical and never skipped a beat, even when winding the speedo-needle right around the clock to 225kph... once :-)
