9, 10 & 11 DECEMBER 2005
We all met for breakfast at the Middelburg Ultra City. Then we hit the road to Graskop, turning off at Belfast we rode to Dullstroom, where we stopped for fuel and a quick warm-up dop. Riding on to Lydenburg, we turned towards Ohrigstad and again towards Pilgrims Rest (Robbers Pass). We stopped at the Royal Hotel in Pilgrims Rest, to dry out (bit of rain and all). then it was on to Greg’s Guest House in Graskop.

Highest tarred road in TRANSVAAL or what.
Saturday morning we rode through all the renown mountain passes; Kowyns, Hazyview and Sabie, where we stopped at the Woodsman for breakfast. Heavy clouds made us change the route back to Gaskop, then we rode down the Blydepoort road, though the JG Strijdom Tunnel to Mad Dogs resturant for lunch, riding back to Graskop for our braai supper.
Sunday we rode to Sabie for breakfast and headed for home via Rooseenekal and the Steenkamps Berg Pass.
MY TRIP FROM JO’BURG TO GRASKOP, INCLUDING SATURDAY’S RIDE AND BACK TO JO’BURG WAS 1451 KM. ALL DONE ON THE BUELL LIGHTNING PICTURED ABOVE, and what a pleasure it was!
